Today and yesterday, we learned four new greetings: 

1. nǐ hǎo
2. nǐ men hǎo
3. zǎo shang hǎo
4. wǎn shang hǎo

Do you notice any patterns in the four expressions above?

When we say greetings in Chinese, we first say the people or the time, followed by hǎo, which means good.

So the pattern is: 

• people + hǎo
• time + hǎo
